The graphic is a departure from Fairway's typical photography-based promotions as all new product photography was being held off until a big reveal at another trade show a couple months later. This rare graphical promotion emphasizes Fairway's presence in Nashville, the graphic doubling as Fairway's railing product & the strings of a guitar. Objective was to create a logo inspired by an animal of my choosing. Based on the owl, I created the idea of a product that would soothe even the nocturnal owl to sleep at night. The illustration itself illustrates the owl, but also the idea of distinctive day & night through the color splits, as well as the full moon in shape. The cool purples allude to lavender (the main ingredient in this hypothetical sleep aid), with complementary golds used for the owl’s beak, as well as the crescent moon in the logotype. At Your Expense takes LIP’s tried & true blue & red color scheme & expands upon it, adding teal, orange, & tan for a fun, retro look. The logo takes influence from classic game shows of the mid-century (the audience is even prompted to shout, “At! Your! Expense!”), using a variety of stylized typefaces & all unified through the use of the classic comedy light sign.
